With all the recent advances in technology, I’ve been wanting to get back into some of my creative projects. Ideas that used to take more time than I could give them are starting to feel possible again. StudioX is where I’m bringing them together.

With all the recent advances in technology, I’ve been wanting to get back into some of my creative projects. Ideas that used to take more time than I could give them are starting to feel possible again. StudioX is where I’m bringing them together.

DJVibe goes back to the early 2000s. Over the years, my IT career took up more of my time, and those creative projects ended up on the back burner. Now I’m bringing DJVibe back, with automations helping research stories, draft and edit articles, and find suitable photos. We’re still refining the process, but it’s exciting to see it coming together.

Cascade comes from my growing interest in wellness. The idea is something like Airbnb for small spas and people with wellness spaces at home. Someone with a sauna or a small spa could share it and offset some of the cost, while giving people nearby access to something they might otherwise have to travel for. I’m especially interested in what that could mean for communities without many wellness options.

BrewPass started with a loyalty program I built for Main Street Brewing when I lived in Vancouver. They were using stamp cards for growler fills, and finding someone’s card took too long. I digitized the system so staff could look people up and record fills on an iPad at the brewery. It worked really well, but when COVID hit and growler fills stopped, the program came to an end.

I’ve wanted to keep that idea going. This time, I’m expanding it beyond one brewery and beyond growlers, with support for different product categories and loyalty programs.

I’m also building XOS to bring the automation across these projects together. Right now, the jobs mostly live within each project. The idea is to share the tools and lessons between them, with one place to see what’s running and what needs attention.

These projects will also be a test bed for research and development: a way to try new technologies on real products, see what helps, and learn from what doesn’t. I’ll be sharing updates here as we go, alongside some of the creative experiments coming out of StudioX.

It feels good to be building again.
